Club Permit Vehicles – Member Access Policy

Like many CAMS affiliated clubs in Victoria, MUCC offers admission to the Club Permit scheme with Vic Roads. The committee views this as a benefit for active club members, not just a source of “cheap registration”. To this end, applications for requests to have vehicles admitted to the club permit scheme under the auspices of the MUCC will be assessed on a case by case basis on consideration of the following factors:

1. The vehicles use in competition, competition related activities and/or its historical significance and provenance.

o A vehicles age, per the VicRoads Club Permit rules, will be a necessary, but not a sufficient condition.

2. The member’s ongoing membership of the club and ongoing engagement in club activities both as a participant and in organising or assisting (Officialling).

3. Applications for renewal of Club Permits will be subject to the same considerations.

4. New members will be subject to a probation period of 6 months before an application will be considered, during which time it is expected that they will make themselves known to the committee and engage actively in club life.

5. Applications from returning members will consider the extent of their previous membership and club involvement, and the duration of their absence.

6. For continuing members of significant tenure, allowance may be made for factors that may limit their ongoing direct engagement with club activities in the present.

Explanatory Notes:

“Competition related activities”: These could include regular use as a tow or service vehicle for a competition car – period livery would be viewed favourably – or as a survey/support vehicle for club events.

“Historical significance & provenance”: Where a vehicle has a significant competition history and/or provenance (due to rarity or prior ownership) it may be accepted that it is too valuable to use in serious competition (rallies, sprints, races etc). Such a vehicle may reasonably be expected to be used in non-competitive touring events.
