UNICAR
The club magazine, published since 1955.
A monthly newsletter commenced in 1955 with the name “Unbalanced Notes”. The name was changed to UNICAR in 1958.
Unicar became a respected reference for competition results, event reports and calendars. Don Humphries was the editor for almost 45 years until his death in 2012. While almost every edition was published one or two months after its labelled date, Don was fastidious about not skipping an edition. He also published results and kept progress scores for all motorsport series of interest to members, including Formula 1, World Rally Championship, Australian Rally Championship, Australian Sporting Car Championship, Victorian Rally Championship and the TAUCC Championship. If you are looking for motorsport results from the past, try Unicar.
Following Don’s death, no other member was willing to put the time and effort into continuing the publication of such a comprehensive magazine. But Unicar did continue in an abbreviated electronic format thanks to the efforts of Peter Otzen. It is now called e-Unicar and is restricted to information more directly relevant to club members.

The full archive
We believe we have every edition of Unicar, and probably of Unbalanced Notes. The complete archive is hosted on Rallypedia, and most editions of Unicar are also available from the National Library in Canberra.
Unbalanced Notes was originally compiled and edited by Brian Fleming and Tim Kendall. Subsequent editors were Ian McDonald (1958-60), Andrew Burston (1960-64), Bill Denvil (1964-1967, with Brian Fleming doing part of 1965) and Don Humphries (1967-2012).
If you have an edition we do not have, or you find an error, please let us know.
